OUR SUSTAINABILITY JOURNEY

Our Philosophy

Spencer House has stood as a landmark since 1756. To host events here is a privilege and the inheritance of a responsibility –  to the environment and community that surrounds us, to our historic building, and to the people who gather within it.

Catering & Food Sourcing

Our menus are designed around the British calendar. What grows now, nearby, and at its best is what belongs on a Spencer House table.

We work with producers whose farming and sourcing practices we know and believe in. These are relationships built over time, with proven quality and provenance.

II. Heritage Conservation

Heritage Conservation

Spencer House was built between 1756 and 1766 for John Spencer, 1st Earl Spencer. Grade I listed, it is widely regarded as London’s finest surviving 18th-century private palace, with state rooms that represent a unique example/history of artisanship.

Our approach to hospitality includes education; telling the history of its artisans, patrons, and the events that shaped these rooms. We invite every guest to experience the house as more than a venue.

  • Long-term conservation and restoration of the house
  • Careful maintenance of historic interiors and collections
  • Protecting/Preserving  Spencer House for future generations

III. Community & Environment

Community & Environment

  • Supporting public access through tours and educational experiences
  • Maintaining our biodiverse garden to have a positive impact on the environment
  • Working towards reduced environment impact across operations
